The Institute of Australian Geographer’s Cultural Geography and Urban Geography Study Groups invite you to a free, 2-day workshop that seeks to engage and train both cultural and urban geographers in the development and use of innovative qualitative methods. Participants will hear from experts on a range of methods and undertake field activities in the area of their choosing. Groups will have the opportunity to workshop these methods, discuss their theoretical and practical applications, and brainstorm new methodological pathways.
Groups and Speakers:
GIS & qualitative mapping - Dr Chris Brennan-Horley (University of Wollongong)
Sound and movement - Dr Michelle Duffy (Federation University)
Digital ethnography & analysing the visual - Professor Larissa Hjorth (RMIT) and Professor Heather Horst (RMIT)
Embodied observation - Professor Andrea Witcomb (Deakin University)

Subject to funding we hope to provide a limited number of bursaries to assist postgraduate students who are IAG members with the costs of travelling to the workshop. Stay tuned…
