If you're in Melbourne in the lead up to the CSAA Minor Cultures conference, please come along to this event hosted by Swinburne University:

Media & Communications 21C - Industries Forum

Friday November 27 (AMDC 301 Lecture Theatre) 4- 6pm

Theme: Change and opportunity in the media industries: new communication environments, connections and disruptions.

As we move at full speed into a new era of technology-driven and social media connected communications, the great challenge we face is how to adapt and make the most of new opportunities. But the fast evolving media environment and new professional and industry opportunities also effects a wide range of disciplines across the university sector. This forum presents a chance for academics alongside our industry partners to pause and consider the changes, challenges and opportunities across our diverse media and communications industries, and to scope new directions for media and communications research and teaching.

The forum will include a panel of five distinguished industry guests who will respond to the theme in their organisational context, and help us consider new directions for research and teaching.

Panellists:
Jason Laird - Telstra Executive Director Communications & Chief Social Officer
Isabelle Oderberg - Red Cross Australia Head of Social
Jock Given - Professor of Media and Communications, Swinburne Institute for Social Research
Ben Shapira - Digital Media consultant
Seph McKenna - Head of Australian production, Roadshow Films

The event is free, but please RSVP for catering purposes to either Diana Bossio dbossio at swin.edu.au<mailto:dbossio at swin.edu.au> or Anthony McCosker amccosker at swin.edu.au<mailto:amccosker at swin.edu.au> by COB Wed November 18.
