'A Philosophy of Survivance and Indigenous Narratives of Sustainability'

How communities worldwide deal with climate change will be one of the defining issues in the immediate future and coming decades. Some, in both the Sciences and Humanities have become increasingly interested in Indigenous Knowledge Systems as both a philosophical and practical means of dealing with broad understandings of sustainability. I am interested to what extent these moves are genuinely invested in an equitable and 'deep' relationship, as opposed to the problem of selectively 'cherry-picking' Indigenous knowledge. This conversation will look at the issue, with some discussion of the First Nations concept of Survivance.
