The law is the basis of institutions such as sovereignty and the police, which are designed to protect citizens from violence and
to establish order, peace and stability. At the same time, these institutions need to use violent means to extend their protection.
Is it possible to establish clear limits to how the law can use violence? Or is the violence from which the law is meant to protect
us internal to the law itself?
