Join international dialogue on local governance

Papers are invited for two panels at the International Research Society for Public Management Conference (IRSPM2015), to be held at the University of Birmingham, 30 March - 1 April 2015 and hosted by the Institute of Local Government Studies (INLOGOV).

The two Panels will be co-convened by the Director and senior academic staff of the Australian Centre of Excellence for Local Government (ACELG).

Contributions are invited by Wednesday 15 October for the following Panels:

Panel J2 - Diversity in local government: Where are we up to?
Considers the impact of reform processes on how local government can foster uniqueness within local areas through the provision of services and developing capacity as an 'employer of choice'.
Convened by Associate Professor Roberta Ryan, Director, ACELG and Dr Bligh Grant, ACELG.

Panel J5 - Local governance in Commonwealth countries: Exploring similarities and differences in subnational politics and policy across borders in a post-development context
A key goal of this panel is to assist develop new approaches for analyzing and understanding subnational political transformations, particularly from local government to local governance.
Convened by Dr. Eris Schoburgh, University of the West Indies at Mona; Associate Professor Roberta Ryan, Director, ACELG and Professor John Martin, Emeritus Professor, LaTrobe University and Adjunct Professor ACELG.

Papers accepted for the two Panels may also be considered for the Commonwealth Journal of Local Governance (http://epress.lib.uts.edu.au/journals/index.php/cjlg), published by the University of Technology, Sydney, and the Journal of African and Asian Local Government Studies.

The deadline for Panel proposals is Wednesday 15 October 2014.
