Dear Cultural Studies Colleagues,
The Executive of the Association is currently seeking Expressions of Interest from current members of the Association for the positions of Association Secretary and General Web Editor. Role descriptions for each position are detailed on the Association's web site (http://www.csaa.asn.au/about/executive/csaa-executive---structure.shtml), but in short key duties include the following:
- Association Secretary
The duties of Secretary of the Association are to hold and maintain the CSAA archives, maintain a database of members, prepare and circulate an Agenda for Executive meetings and the AGM, maintain an active role in leading the Association with the Executive group.
While a crucial position in the Executive, the role is supported directly by the President and Treasurer of the Association and typically will require a commitment of no more than 2-3 hours per week.
- General Web Editor
The duties of the General Web Editor are to maintain electronic communications to members, maintain general editing of the Associations web presence (in consultation with the Association's web developers), and provide guidance and leadership on new web initiatives for the Association.
This role does not require high level web development or editing skills, however proficiency in using CMS based web platforms will be beneficial. The role of General Web Editor will be supported directly by the President, Secretary and Treasurer. This role will typically require 1-2 hours per week.
Why Join the Executive?
The CSAA is a representative association for Cultural Studies and cognate disciplines in the Australasian region. The Association is called on to advise and advocate for the discipline, provide a central community of practice for Cultural Studies scholars and more generally foster the reputation of Cultural Studies practice in the Australasian region.
Beyond being involved in current conversations in the discipline and governance of the Association, a position on the Executive carries significant esteem and will carry credit for 'service' in most Universities.
Expressions of Interest
Short Expressions of Interest detailing applicant's experience relative to the position and visions for future initiatives for the Association are sought. Applicants are encouraged to consider the 'Objectives of the CSAA' in detailing a response.
In the case that more than 1 application for each position is received, a meeting of the Executive group will be called to rank Expressions of Interest and nominate a candidate for each position. Further information may be sought from applicants in determining the nomination to the position.
Submissions should be submitted to the President of the Association using the Expression of Interest Nomination Form<http://csaa.cmail1.com/t/r-l-mludhtd-tjdhhdzjd-u/> (https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B_f1-yVGeFAGV1RDQVlNbDNvSTQ/edit?pli=1).
Submissions Close 25th July 2014.
