Dear Cultural Studies Colleagues,
As you will be aware, the ERA 2015 Journal and Conference Lists are currently out for consultation.

The CSAA Executive and I have been formulating a CSAA response, but you may wish to identify further points for inclusion in this submission, and indeed prepare your own submission along with your institution. The details contained below highlight the process.

The consultation period ends 21st March, but I will require your feedback in order to finalise the CSAA submission by CoB Wednesday 19th March at latest.

Kindest Regards,
Andrew Hickey
President, Cultural Studies Association of Australasia

Dear ERA stakeholders

This is a reminder that the public consultation phase (phase 1) of the Draft ERA 2015 Journal and Conference Lists Consultation (JACCI) closes on 21st March 2014.

Please note all submissions for new outlets that meet the eligibility criteria for consideration in ERA 2015 must be submitted during phase 1 of the public consultation (via the Journal and Conference Consultation Interface (JACCI)). ERA stakeholders can contribute to the ERA Journal and Conference list consultation process in any capacity – that is, as an individual researcher, as a representative of a university department or faculty, or as a representative of a peak body or society. The ARC strongly encourages all stakeholders who wish to contribute any comments or any new recommendations to please do so in this first phase of the consultation process.

In phase 2, following the close of this public consultation period, the ARC will only seek to consult with select peak bodies/disciplinary groups as part of the process of consolidation of feedback gathered during the public consultation phase. This second phase will largely focus around examining new recommendations that were submitted in phase 1 of the public consultation and making recommendations regarding the field of research assignments. Phase 2 will not involve adding new recommended outlets. Stakeholders should not assume that this targeted process with these peak bodies/disciplinary groups will be a substitute for the formal public consultation that is currently underway.

The ERA 2015 journal and conference lists form an integral part of the ERA evaluation process. The lists provide components that will be used in the ERA 2015 methodology, including:

  * defining the eligible Fields of Research (FoR) codes that research outputs may be assigned during the submission phase; and
  * defining the outlets from which the citation benchmarks are derived.
For further information on the Draft ERA 2015 Journal and Conference Lists consultation please refer to the Draft ERA 2015 Journal and Conference Lists Consultation Fact Sheet on the Current ERA consultations page: http://www.arc.gov.au/era/current_consult.htm
If you have questions regarding the ERA 2015 Consultation, please email era at arc.gov.au<mailto:era at arc.gov.au> or call the ERA Helpdesk on 02 6287 6755 (between 9.00am and 5.00pm, Canberra time, Monday - Friday).
Please feel free to distribute this information with your networks.
Regards,
The ERA team
