MACQUARIE UNIVERSITY RESEARCH FELLOWSHIPS (MQRFS) 2014

Department of Sociology

The Department of Sociology welcomes enquiries from potential applicants to the Macquarie University Research (Postdoctoral) Fellowships program. Fellowships will be awarded on a competitive basis and will be full time for three years, commencing in 2014. Applicants must be no more than three years post-PhD.

The Department of Sociology will sponsor strong applicants in any area of Sociology (or related discipline), however we have particular research strengths in Political & Economic Sociology; Cultural Sociology; Urban Sociology, The Sociology of Work, Gender, and Migration, Race & Ethnic Studies.

Applications for these awards are assessed in three stages. 1) An initial cull at the departmental level and matching with sponsor; 2) formal submission of a Expressions of Interest (EOI); and 3) competitive proposals will be invited to submit a full proposal. These are extremely competitive awards, and typically only applicants with a publication track record and very well thought out research proposal are successful in making it through the first selection stage.

The departmental deadline for potential applicants to make contact is Tuesday 14nd May 2013. Competitive applicants will be advised within 7 days whether they may proceed to the formal EOI stage. In the first instance, potential applicants should contact A/Prof. Amanda Wise by email with a one page synopsis outlining a proposed research topic, and append a CV highlighting publication and academic track record. The earlier contact is made the better.
