This year's Thinking Out Loud: The Sydney Lectures in Philosophy and Society will be delivered by professor Bonnie Honig.
Entitled "Public Things," Professor Honig's lectures will stress the importance of public things to democratic life. Whereas so many democratic theorists focus on the importance of the demos to democracy, theorizing the terms of inclusion, identity, or nation, Honig will ask to what extent democracy is rooted in common love for, and contestation of, shared objects.
