Mahboba’s Promise hosts, "*Afghanistan – can we make a difference?"*

A forum discussion on preparing for peace and progress for Afghanistan as
international troops leave.

*Date:     Wednesday, 17th October 2012
Time:     6.30pm for 7pm
Venue:  Footbridge Theatre, Pedestrian Overbridge, Sydney University,
                Parramatta Road, Glebe, NSW 2037*

Join us for a lively panel discussion with:  Ambassador Andisha, a
Fulbright Scholar, is Afghanistan’s Ambassador to Australia; Yalda Hakim,
well-known journalist and presenter of SBS Dateline, escaped from
Afghanistan as a child; Jim Molan is a retired major-general of the
Australian armed forces, awarded Australian Thinker of the Year 2009; Amin
Saikal, AM, is a Professor at ANU’s Centre for Arab and Islamic Studies;
Maryam Totakhail, has firsthand experience of the trials of being born a
woman in Afghanistan’s complex culture.  Moderated by Jessie Taylor,
barrister at the Victorian Bar, refugee advocate and co-creator of the film
'Between the Devil & the Deep Blue Sea'.

Tickets $38.00 per person [$28.00 students and concession holders] includes
light refreshments.
