The ABC and the University of Sydney, invite you to the opening day of RIPE
2012, a major international conference on the future of public service
media.

The 2012 Re-visionary Interpretations of the Public Enterprise (RIPE)
Conference is a bi-annual gathering of media professionals and academics
from all over the world to discuss the current local and global landscapes
of public service media (PSM).

This year the theme is "Value for Public Money ­ Money for Public Value",
and guest speakers will include James Spigelman AC, chairman of the ABC
Board; Mark Scott, ABC managing director and Toshiyuki Sato, Executive
Controller of Japan¹s Nippon Hoso Kyokai (NHK).
 
The opening day will be held at the ABC Ultimo studios on Wednesday
September 5th,  and will offer a unique insight into the state of PSM in
Australia, Europe, Asia and the Americas. Talks will cover innovation
strategy, audience relationships and disaster reporting (with special
emphasis on NHK's Fukushima disaster response). The program is available

The conference opening day at Ultimo is free for media academics and
students, postgraduate or undergraduate. However catering will only be
provided for registered conference delegates.
