THE SCHOOL OF COMMUNICATION AND THE ARTS INVITES YOU TO A BOOK LAUNCH ON POLITICAL SPEECH.
Join us in celebrating the launch of Dr Tom Clark's latest book "Stay on Message: Poetry and Truthfulness in Political Speech" (Australian Scholarly Publishing). The book will be launched by Lindsay Tanner, formerly federal Minister for Finance.
In addition to his political career, Tanner has been the author of many books, including most recently his analysis of political communication and disengagement in Australia, Sideshow: Dumbing Down Democracy.
In addition to his academic career, Clark has worked as a speechwriter and political advisor. He is also a certified poet.
This launch will be the culmination of a SCATA postgraduate conference on Communication Studies. Staff and student researchers across a range of communication and media studies can meet up with one another, participate in discussions about key issues in social media practice in this field, and hear presentations by leading communication researchers.
If you are keen to attend the launch, or would like to know more about the conference, please direct your RSVP and/or enquiry to: Ella.Hewitt at vu.edu.au. Please RSVP by 21 May for catering purposes.
