We are seeking expressions of interest for participation in the reconstituted Editorial Board of the New Zealand Journal of Media Studies (NZJMS). The NZJMS is a peer-reviewed forum for the publication of scholarly research in the field of New Zealand, and related, media studies. It was established in 1995, and has been available online (at http://www.nzmediastudies.org.nz/) since 2006. The Journal is currently hosted by the Media Studies Programme, School of English, Film, Theatre and Media Studies, Victoria University of Wellington.

A working party has been established to shepherd the Journal into its next phase of development, and invites expressions of interest from academics working in the broad field of media studies to participate in the Journal’s Editorial Board. We are committed to a journal that is international in scope and locally relevant, publishing scholarly work that reflects the diversity of New Zealand media studies in terms of territories and technologies, cultures and users, governance and kaupapa. We expect that the Board will reflect the diversity of the field and will work towards securing the Journal’s future as a forum for the publication of material which is outwardly looking and locally grounded, as a means to engage and support scholarly research in and of Aotearoa New Zealand, and as a rigorous participant in the larger community of discourse. Board members should be prepared to commit to service for an anticipated period of two years, and to take on such roles as the Board will determine necessary for the ongoing functioning of the Journal, beginning by early 2013.

We welcome your interest and inquiries. Please direct expressions of interest consisting of a CV and a brief statement of approximately 300 words to the working party, at nzjms at vuw.ac.nz<mailto:nzjms at vuw.ac.nz>, by Tuesday 10 April.
