Dear all

I'm CI of an ALTC-funded project that involves gathering data on creative
arts doctoral candidatures, in part through focus groups. I am, tragically,
limited by the physical laws of time and place, so need to recruit a tiny
army of research assistants to run focus groups in various parts of
Australia.

Embedded below is a call for expressions of interest to take on this role.

If you have a research student who could use a bit of experience and would
like to earn a bit of money, and work on a national project, I'd be very
grateful if you'd flick this on. Or if you're in that situation, do please
have a look, and get back to Sandra Burr, as below.

Wanted: Focus Group Facilitators
Adelaide
Brisbane
Hobart
Melbourne
Newcastle
Perth
Wollongong

The ALTC funded project Examination of Doctoral Degrees in Creative Arts:
process, practice and standards (Ethics approval number CEHR11-81), is
seeking to recruit several Focus Group facilitators to implement this data
gathering stage of the project. Focus Groups will be held in selected
capital cities and regional centres during October and November 2011.
Participants will be drawn from tertiary institutions where creative arts
Higher Degrees by Research are offered and examined.

Focus Group facilitators will (with direction from the project manager):

-identify and recruit participants
-arrange suitable venues
-organise meeting times
-facilitate the meetings using scripted questions
-record the proceedings and transmit them to the Project Manager.

This position would suit a communication or sociology research student;
however we will certainly consider anyone with proven organisational skills
and/or experience in running Focus Groups. Payment will be at UC level 6
($38.00 per hour) and we expect that the job will involve between 10 and 20
hours.

If you are interested in applying for one of these positions please send a
brief email outlining your suitability and experience by [ASAP] to the
project manager, Dr Sandra Burr:
