Announcing the launch of Sydney MACS

Wednesday September 14
The Clare Hotel, Broadway (TBC)
5-7pm

MACS is a cross-institutional network for media and cultural studies
researchers which started in Brisbane and has since started in Melbourne.
MACS is held once a month (second Wednesday of each month) with the aim of
providing networking opportunities, information exchanges, peer support and
mentoring for media & cultural studies researchers of all stripes. MACS
meets at an off campus venue and is open to all researchers.

A short history:
MACS began in Brisbane as an inter-university network to support ECRs,
postgrads, staff and researchers generally within the field of media and
cultural studies. It ran many successful panels and even better drinking
sessions. An archive of the events held in Brisbane is available here:

Since moving to Melbourne (along with a number of the key people in the
initial group) MACS has streamlined to drinks and announcements with an
accompanying blog and facebook page.

Sydney's web presence is now in development and will be online shortly. In
the meantime, please feel free to distribute this invitation to colleagues,
students and graduates who may be interested.

See you in two weeks for the first MACS!
