CALL FOR PAPERS - MC Journal Issue 'IMPACT' (Dec 2011)

Researchers from the Social Sciences and Humanities are invited to submit papers for MC Journal's December Issue. 'Impact' encapsulates the outcomes of the work of a new generation of cultural researchers and to what extent it has the capacity to influence the direction of current debates in the public sphere surrounding social, political and cultural agendas. The theme 'impact' was chosen because of the conviction that cultural research has the potential to have enormous impact not only on academia but also on the wider community. Through introducing new discourses, perspectives and paradigms which have the capacity to influence policy making, cultural researchers can position themselves as intermediaries to inform societal groups through utilizing mediums such as the media, in ways that impact upon and have relevance to the everyday lives of various communities. The papers selected for publication should cover broad-ranging topics, but convey the importance for emerging cultural research to have general applicability and thus impact on a wider audience. Contributions might discuss successes, pitfalls and experimental research methodologies, identity politics (queer, indigenous, ethnical) both in Australia and internationally as well as explorations into the use of film, theatre and the internet.
