The Atheist God: Spinoza's Laws of Religion and Politics



How are we to reconcile the paradox that Spinoza is perceived as the great atheist of the Western tradition and yet he constantly references to God? We will examine this paradox through the vexed relation between politics and religion in Spinoza's writings.
