PhD/DCA Scholarship ARC Discovery Postgraduate Research Award

Creative Nation: Writers and Writing in the New Media Arts

The Writing and Society Research Group at the University of Western Sydney is seeking a doctoral student to undertake an Australian Research Council (ARC) funded project.

About the Project

The project explores the remediation of literary genres and practices in digital writing. The ARC project maps a crucial period of transition from print to electronic forms in writing and the creative arts, analysing principles and practices of writers, forms of authorship and agency, and developing critical and theoretical concepts to describe new forms of reading and writing as they are practiced in the new media arts.

Criteria

The successful applicant should:  Hold an excellent Bachelor Honours degree in a relevant field, or equivalent qualifications and/or experience  Be committed to involvement in the development of an annotated directory of Australian Writing in New Media Art  Some experience in more than one of the following areas:


Genre Theory

Visual culture and visual analysis

Electronic Literature

Digital Art


What does the scholarship provide?

 Tax free stipend of $32,222 per annum and a funded place in the doctoral degree  Funding is also available for project costs and conference travel
