AHRC Post Doctoral Research Assistant (Multiplatforming Public Service
Broadcasting)

Two years fixed term

Salary: £ 18,909 to £ 26,835 per annum inclusive

This is an exciting opportunity to be involved in cutting edge research on
the relationship between public service broadcasting, multiplatform
television, digital media and the independent production sector. You will
play a key role in exploring the production cultures and ecology of
independent and digital media companies working in the specialist factual
sector. You will gain privileged access to a range of media companies,
spending substantial time working at such companies based in London and
Brighton, conducting interviews and undertaking participant observation.

You will develop a research profile as part of a project that aims to bring
together broadcasters, policy-makers, independent producers and trainers in
contributing to the future shaping of public service broadcasting in the
digital age. You will assist the project team (Dr James Bennett, Paul Kerr
and Dr Niki Strange [Sussex University]) on the AHRC project, and undertake
relevant teaching duties on our postgraduate and undergraduate courses.

You will have a relevant PhD, or expect to complete one by September 2010,
and have experience of conducting relevant field research in television
and/or new media studies. For an informal discussion about the post, please
contact: Dr James Bennett j.bennett at londonmet.ac.uk 0207 133 5009
