The Australian Centre for Cultural Environmental Research (AUSCCER)

The Australian Centre for Cultural Environmental Research (AUSCCER) is an exciting new research initiative funded by the University of Wollongong and the Australian Research Council, through an Australian Laureate Fellowship to Professor Lesley Head and a Future Fellowship to Professor Chris Gibson. AUSCCER will undertake cultural analysis of Australia's highest priority environmental issues to make both intellectual and practical contributions to the pressing problems of environmental sustainability. It will strengthen national humanities/social science research and research training capacity in the environmental field. We are now seeking postdoctoral scholars, research staff and PhD students to join us in this endeavour.

Associate Research Fellow - 3 years (up to two positions) Ref No 23477
The positions will undertake postdoctoral research in the cultural dimensions of sustainability in the following two broad areas: 1. Cultures of sustainable food production; 2. Enhancing cultural capacity to manage bushfire risk. Applicants should provide a 2-3 page research proposal, summarising how they would approach one or both of the two research projects. A strong commitment to fieldwork is expected. (The positions will have a budget allocation to cover fieldwork and conference travel.) Senior Research Assistant- Part time 5 years Ref No 23478
This position provides research assistance for Prof Head in her own research projects, and assists with the research administration of AUSCCER.

GIS Project Manager - Part time 3 years Ref No 23479
This position manages and provides technical expertise for the Geographical Information Systems (GIS) research activities
embedded in the ARC Discovery Project (DP) 'Cultural sustainability in Australian country towns: amenity, mobility,
and everyday life' (DP0984223) held at UOW by Chris Gibson, Gordon Waitt and Kate Bowles. It provides GIS technical
solutions for cultural research needs in AUSCCER.
