Dear colleagues,
Abstracts and expressions of interest are invited for the 13th Bible
and Critical Theory Seminar. The seminar is an informal scholarly
gathering in a pub, devoted to discussion of the intersection of
critical theory and biblical studies. After recent gatherings in
Melbourne and Auckland, a session will be held in Perth on Saturday
the 13th of December (and possibly a further day, depending on
interest). Papers are welcome on any relevant topic: Marxist,
feminist, postcolonial, queer, ecocritical etc. readings of biblical
texts; the ‘turn to religion’ and/or the new Paulinism; the influence,
use and abuse of the Bible in contemporary cultural and literary
texts, etc. (Those interested might wish to visit the affiliated
journal at <http://www.epress.monash.edu/bc/about.html>.)
Anyone wishing to present a paper, or interested in attending, is
asked to contact me at <Matthew.Chrulew at arts.monash.edu.au> by the
31st of October. More details will be provided closer to the event.
Please forward this CFP to any parties who may be interested.
All the best,
Matt Chrulew
