Roadmap to Nowhere: Imposing Peace on Palestine/ Israel

Ali Abunimah

Israel's strategy throughout the 'peace process' has been to try to gain
control over the maximum amount of land with the minimum number of
Palestinians.  This has underpinned all proposals for the so-called
two-state solution. Instead of leading to peace, it has created a
situation akin to apartheid. Israeli policy makers are at a dead end,
and new ideas for peace and coexistence are emerging from the
Palestinian side.

 

 

 

Ali Abunimah is the Editor of Eletronic Intifada, a not-for-profit,
independent online publication about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. A
Palestinian American, he is a graduate of Princeton University and the
University of Chicago.He is a frequent speaker and commentator on the
Middle East, and is a regular contributor to the Chicago Tribune and the
Los Angeles Times. He is the author of a new book, One Country: a Bold
Proposal to break the Israeli/Palestinian Impasse (Henry Holt, NY,
2006), which revives the old and neglected idea of one state shared by
two peoples.
