offered in the Media & Communications Department at the University of

___Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in International Media and Journalism___
The Lecturer will coordinate and teach International Media Practice  
at postgraduate level, as well as in postgraduate or undergraduate  
journalism or public affairs. This position will teach the variations  
among international media institutions, traditions and practices in  
the context of communication theories. A PhD and professional  
experience in journalism or public affairs will be essential for this  
position.

___Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Convergent and Online Media (three  
year fixed term)___
The Lecturer will coordinate and teach units of study in Convergent  
Journalism and Online Media at both undergraduate and postgraduate  
level. A complete or near complete PhD and professional experience in  
journalism and/or new media will be essential. The successful  
applicant could also be asked to teach in other media practice units  
and units of media theory, at either undergraduate or postgraduate  
level.

___Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Media Law and Ethics___
The Lecturer will teach Legal and Ethical Issues in Media Practice at  
postgraduate level, as well as the undergraduate unit of Media Law  
and Ethics. A complete or near complete PhD and professional  
experience in journalism or media law will be essential. A tertiary  
qualification in an area of law would be an advantage.

___Associate Lecturer/Lecturer in Media Writing___
The Lecturer will teach Writing for the Media at postgraduate and  
undergraduate level, including units of study in Journalistic  
Writing, mainly for print and online news media. Experience in print  
journalism as a journalist, reporter, correspondent or editor and  
will be required, as will a scholarly research track record or  
demonstrated potential as an academic researcher. Experience in  
writing for broadcast and online journalism, or writing for public  
relations, would be an advantage.

The successful candidates will possess a suitable higher degree, as  
well as professional experience relevant to their appointment.  
Tertiary teaching experience and demonstrated research potential is  
also required for these appointments. An applicant's level of  
appointment and responsibility will be commensurate with  
qualifications and experience.

These positions are full-time continuing, except for the Lecturer in  
Convergent and Online Media which is fixed term for three years,  
subject to the completion of a satisfactory probation and/or  
confirmation period for new appointees. Membership of a University  
approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for new  
appointees.
