Dear CSAA,

This is a formal call for expressions of interest for the following two
positions on the CSAA executive which have recently fallen vacant:

1) Representative for Victoria

2) Postgraduate Representative

If you are interested in either of these positions, please send to
paul.magee at canberra.edu.au a short statement (up to 250 words)
describing: i) your current position / enrolment / relation to the
university, ii) your research interests, and iii) where you would like
to see the Cultural Studies community heading.

Expressions of interest need to be received by Monday 7th of May 2007.
The current CSAA executive will elect one person to each position at its
next meeting, on the 18th of May.

NB The duties of representatives are not particularly onerous. By the
same token, they involve having considerable say in the running of the
association and the setting of its policy agendas. Formally, the duties
are:

To partake in debates relevant to CSAA administration and policy.

To collect information about CSAA events and initiatives in their region
and supply this to the Secretary, the newsletter editor and the website
editor.

To supply the newsletter editor with at least one 500 word piece on an
issue relevant to practitioners of cultural studies in Australia and New
Zealand.

For further info on executive activities and current membership, please
see http://www.csaa.asn.au/about/executive.php

NBB To be eligible you must be a paid-up member of the CSAA (anyone who
was registered for the full three days of last year's conference is
automatically a paid-up member. If not, feel free to join now, at
http://www.csaa.asn.au/index.php ). Also, and just in case this isn't
obvious, you must be based in Victoria to be elected to the first
position, or be a postgrad / completed PhD seeking work, for the second.

Feel free to email me to discuss further.
