School of English, Media and Performing Arts Seminar Series
5pm Wednesday 4th April, Rm 327, level 3 Webster Building, UNSW

Prof. Timothy Bergfelder, University of Southampton, UK
'Life is a Variety Theatre: E. A Dupont's Career in German and British
Cinema'

Abstract: E.A. Dupont is one of the forgotten auteurs of Weimar cinema,
remembered primarily for Variety (1925) and, more recently, the
British-made Piccadilly (1928). This paper argues that Dupont was more
than a one- or two-hit wonder, but that his career raises interesting
questions concerning the national rootedness of filmmakers, and by
extension, national cinema itself.

All Welcome!

Seminar Conveners: A/Prof George Kouvaros & Dr Michelle Langford
