UNAUSTRALIA UNTHEMED
from plastic surgery to philosophy
Submissions for papers on the UNAUSTRALIA theme of the Cultural Studies
Association of Australasia's 2006 annual conference are now closed.
Submissions for refereed papers (themed or otherwise) are now closed too.
We are, however, still accepting abstract submissions for 20 minute papers
(and 3 or 4 paper panels) for the unthemed stream. The idea of this stream
is to have people present on any aspect of their research, regardless of
whether it has an UNAUSTRALIA connotation or not. We want to showcase the
discipline's role as a place for interesting, out there and exceptional
research. Papers can address any theme that falls within the broad
disciplinary category of Cultural Studies (from plastic surgery to
philosophy, and not excluding presentations of creative practice).

About UNAUSTRALIA:
UNAUSTRALIA is the Cultural Studies Association of Australasia's annual
conference for 2006, held over December 6th, 7th and 8th, at the University
of Canberra. The conference will feature both refereed and non-refereed
papers, and a curated exhibition of creative on-line works. The creative
on-line works are to be installed in the National Museum of Australia's
Garden of Australian Dreams for the conference opening night. Professor
Jacques Rancière, author of Disagreement, will deliver the keynote address
in the Australian Parliament House the following night. Confirmed
Australasian keynotes include Professor Larissa Behrendt, Doctor Klaus
Neumann, Professor John Frow and Associate Professor Catharine Lumby.
Professor Rancière¹s address will be followed by a cocktail party in the
marble foyer of Parliament House.
