Applications are invited for appointment to the above position, which
will be offered on a full-time tenurable basis, to commence in June
2006 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Journalism, Media and Communications at the University of Tasmania is
an innovative and respected program, which has experienced
substantial growth in recent years. It is now seeking to appoint a
senior academic with an excellent record in research, teaching and
administration, who can make a major contribution to the program's
continued success.
Applicants are expected to have a PhD in a discipline relevant to
Journalism, Media and Communications. Proven excellence in research
and teaching within the field of Journalism, Media and Communications
is essential, as is a proven ability to communicate and work
effectively and co-operatively with colleagues and students.
Substantial experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching,
particularly using non-traditional or flexible delivery teaching
modes, is essential, as is substantial experience of supervision at
honours and postgraduate levels. The successful applicant will also
have an excellent record of scholarship and publication in
Journalism, Media and Communications.
Women are particularly encouraged to apply as the University is
seeking to increase the number of women in senior academic and
administrative positions.
An appointment at Academic Level C will have a total remuneration
package of up to $98,623 per annum (comprising salary within the
range $73,564-$84,293 plus 17% superannuation) or an appointment at
Academic Level D will have a total remuneration package of up to
$112,844 per annum (comprising salary within the range
$95,777-$105,128 plus 17% superannuation), with the option of an
additional 3% salary loading in exchange for 14% instead of 17%
superannuation.

be offered on a full-time tenurable basis, to commence in June 2006
or as soon as possible thereafter.
Applicants at Level A are expected to have a PhD (or near completion)
and applicants at Level B are expected to have a PhD in a discipline
relevant to Journalism, Media and Communications. Research and
teaching interests within the field of Journalism, Media and
Communications are essential, as is a proven ability to communicate
and work effectively and co-operatively with colleagues and students.
Successful experience of undergraduate and/or postgraduate teaching,
particularly using non-traditional or flexible delivery teaching
modes, would be an advantage, as would a record of scholarship and
publication in Journalism, Media and Communications.
An appointment at Academic Level A will have a total remuneration
package of up to $67,441 per annum (comprising salary within the
range $43,147 - $57,642 plus 17% superannuation). An appointment at
Academic Level B will have a total remuneration package of up to
$83,520 per annum (comprising salary within the range $60,542 -
$71,385 plus 17% superannuation).
