*MA in International Studies Scholarship*

A Master of Research Scholarship has been funded by the Australia Research
Council Discovery Project, Contact zones: art, activism and media in Italy
1994-2006.

The scholarship will be paid at Australian Postgraduate Awards rate for a
year and half starting in July 2006.



The project explores the traffic between creative cultural practices (such
as the production of visual and material culture), media and activism in
Italy, with particular reference to current political debates. The
successful candidate will be required to work on a similar project either
researching one or more case studies on the cultural and creative practices
of political activism in a country other than Italy, or focusing on Italy
before the 1990s.



*Selection criteria:* Applicants must have a Honors degree in any of the
following areas: international studies, cultural studies, art history and/or
theory, design history and/or theory, history, political sciences, media and
communication, cultural anthropology. MA (coursework) in International
Studies will also be considered. Applicants should also address the
following criteria: ability to conduct independent research including
periods of fieldwork; knowledge of the language of the intended country of
fieldwork (additional language training in some languages will be available
in the first semester of the MA). A Curriculum Vitae and a project proposal
must be included in the application.



Applicants must be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent
resident.



*Salary:* $19.231 pa. with the possibility of additional travel funds. This
is a 1 year and a half scholarship, funded by an ARC Discovery Project
grant.
