The School of Media, Film and Theatre combines a commitment to outstanding
research in its fields of study with responsibility for undergraduate and
postgraduate teaching in the B.A. (Media and Communications), the generalist
B.A. (offering specialisations in Media, Culture and Technology, Film
Studies, and Theatre and Performance Studies), the B.A./B.Ed. (Dance) and an
MA (Media, Performance and Education). The School is well equipped with
sophisticated digital audio-visual and computer media facilities.
The successful applicant will be expected to teach production and theory
courses in media studies and in the Media, Culture and Technology 'major'
offered by the School. Topics to be taught may include internet production
and design; digital sound production; innovative human-computer interactive
design; and media theory and practice more generally. The appointee will be
required to supervise Honours undergraduate and Ph.D. students.
Essential criteria: completion of a PhD; evidence of an established
international reputation for research in new media production and design
and/or the social, cultural and/or aesthetic contexts of new and traditional
media technologies; understanding of equity and diversity policies and
procedures; knowledge of OHS responsibilities and commitment to attending
relevant OHS training.
The salary range for Lecturer is A$65,028 - A$76,660 per year (plus up to
17% employer superannuation plus leave loading), depending on qualifications
and experience. This salary includes a superable UNSW academic loading of
A$3,000 per annum payable to all academic staff.
