> In the career of Mike Parr the temporal aesthetic has always been a dominant characteristic from the 'rapid abreactive strategies of his earlier work' to the 'cumulative, temporally dispersed' and 'slow' ritual performances of the 1990s (Bromfield 173) and the recent performance works and installations with their combinations of both time signatures. This discussion of Mike Parr's recent performance art will focus on the durational quality of the work, the way the performances interrogate presence and the effects of this temporal optic on the installations, photographs and videos.
