Discipline of Media

School of Humanities



The University of Adelaide is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified
person to the position of Associate Professor in the Discipline of
Media. The Discipline of Media is the major contributor to the
University's Bachelor of Media program within the Faculty of Humanities
and Social Sciences. This program was first offered in 2002 and is aimed
at combining the University of Adelaide's strong research culture with
professional training in media theory, radio, video and multimedia
production, to prepare students to meet the challenges of the changing
media landscape. 

The successful candidate will be a highly qualified and experienced
person in an area of media theory, and/or media production, and/or media
practice. They will be able to build on the existing research strengths
of the Discipline of Media and contribute to the growth of its incipient
postgraduate research training. They will provide leadership for the
further development of the Media degree program within the Faculty of
Humanities and Social Sciences and forge productive linkages with
relevant community and industry bodies. 

Applicants for this position should have: 

·	A PhD in a field of media research and/or extensive practical
experience with media organisations
·	Demonstrated experience in teaching of a high quality at the tertiary
level
·	The ability to undertake a leadership role in the Discipline of Media
·	An outstanding publication record in an area of media
research/production/practice
·	The ability to develop cooperative teaching and research links with
media-related community and industry organisations


Salary: $84,887-$93,518 per annum, plus an employer superannuation
contribution of 17% applies.
