THE CENTRE FOR CRITICAL AND CULTURAL STUDIES UQ PRESENTS
Public lecture by Ms Kim Anderson, Chief Operating Officer, Southern Star
Entertainment.

Date:   Monday 6 December
Place:  Kathleen Room, Staff Club, University of Queensland, St Lucia Campus
Time:   6-7.30pm

Members of the university community and the general public are invited
to attend this free public lecture. Following the lecture, Ms Anderson will
launch Gerard Goggin's new book, 'Virtual Nation: The Internet in
Australia', after which refreshments will be served.

This free public lecture forms part of the Internet Class 04 3 day 
program convened by CCCS
6-8 December.

Ms Kim Anderson will present an industry perspective on current developments
in new media.

As a leading figure shaping digital technology in Australia, Ms Anderson,
Chief Operating Officer, Southern Star Entertainment, was formerly Director
of Strategy & Technology, Nine Network. She is also a member of the College
of Experts for the Humanities and Creative Arts panel of the Australian
Research Council.

She will be introduced by Professor Graeme Turner, Director of CCCS, and
President of the Australian Academy of the Humanities.

Book Launch
At 7.00 pm, the lecture will be followed by refreshments and Ms Anderson
will launch  Virtual Nation: The Internet in Australia (UNSW Press), a new
collection edited by Gerard Goggin. Copies will be available for sale
courtesy of the UQ Bookshop.
