Hi Baden,

Not sure if this is what you are after but Douglas Kahn published a book titled "Noise Water Meat" in 1999 that details 'a history of sound in the arts' as the book blurb puts it. According to same blurb, Douglas Kahn works as Associate Professor of Media Arts at the University of Technology in Sydney. The book is a fascinating exploration of the concept of aurality in visual arts, music, literature and film.
