SEXUALITIES, GENDERS, AND RIGHTS IN ASIA
1ST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF ASIAN QUEER STUDIES
The Ambassador Hotel, Bangkok, Thailand
8-10 July 2005

Planning for this conference is moving ahead fast, and expressions of
interest have been received from Europe, North America, Australia, New
Zealand, and across Asia from the Middle East to Japan.  It looks like =
being a landmark international event in studies of Asian lesbian, gay,
transgender, transsexual, bisexual, and queer cultures and histories.

CALL FOR PAPERS DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 15 NOVEMBER 2004

The deadline for submission of paper abstracts and panels for the 1ST
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE OF ASIAN QUEER STUDIES has now been extended to
= 15 November 2004.  Please check details on the conference website
(http://bangkok2005.anu.edu.au/) and complete the on line abstracts form
(http://bangkok2005.anu.edu.au/papers.php)

Letters of acceptance will be sent out in December.

* CONFERENCE POSTER: A pdf file version of the colourful conference =
poster is now on the home page of the conference website.  Download the
poster = and print it off to post it on your office door and noticeboard
or send a = copy of the poster to your friends!

* CONFERENCE VENUE FINALISED: The conference will be held in the =
Ambassador Hotel in downtown Bangkok.  Details of accommodation options
and other information will be posted on the website by the end of
November.

* CONFERENCE REGISTRATIONS: Full information about conference =
registration for international participants (non-Thai citizens) will be
posted on the website by the end of October.  This will include a
downloadable = conference registration form. 

* JAPANESE LANGUAGE CONFERENCE INFORMATION: Full details about the
conference are now available on the wesbite in Japanese.  Please check =

information in THAI and other Asian languages will be posted on the =

The conference is being organised jointly by the Office of Human Rights
Studies at Mahidol University, Bangkok, and the AsiaPacifiQueer Network.
