Centre for Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies

Tuesday 16 and Wednesday 17 November, 9.00 am -5.00 pm

SG01 and SG03, Manton Rooms
Ground Floor, Robert Menzies Building
Clayton Campus.

The Centre for Comparative Literature and Cultural Studies organises an
annual Postgraduate Colloquium, where postgraduate students from the
Centre itself and the wider Faculty of Arts as well as interested
outsiders are able to share ideas and expertise. It is an opportunity
for PhD and MA students doing substantial research projects to present
parts of or summaries of their work to a friendly but interested
audience. Many postgraduate students and staff from the Centre, from the
School of Literary, Visual and Performance Studies and from the School
of Languages, Cultures and Linguistics, have attended previous Colloquia
and enjoyed both the intellectual fare and the amenities provided.

All Centre postgraduates are invited to present a paper or make some
other form of presentation on any aspect of their research (25-30
minutes plus discussion).

Postgraduate students working elsewhere in literary studies, cultural
studies or critical theory are also welcome.

Presentations incorporating audiovisual components are welcome.

Panel proposals are also invited, whether research-oriented or on
broader issues relating to university matters or current affairs.

The Colloquium is open to postgraduate students; to supervisors and
staff in the Faculty; and to prospective or recently completed
postgraduate students.

The Colloquium is an informal and relaxed event, which will providean
opportunity to mix with other postgraduates and share research

Participants will also be treated to a special presentation, to be
announced closer to the event, which will become a centrepiece for what
have traditionally been engaging afternoons of discussion and debate –
previous colloquia have featured award-winning documentaries, as well as
keynote and panel presentations by celebrated scholars.

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

If you are interested in making a presentation, please contact Sabina
Sestigiani, Gerald Frederic, Carlo Salzani and James Garrett by e-mail

Please supply the Title of your proposal and an Abstract (approx.

Please mention any preference as to date and time, as well as any
audio-visual or other technical requirements.

Expressions of interest should be received by the Friday 15 October
