Call For Papers

The editors of a forthcoming anthology tentatively titled _Embodiments
of
Asian Pacific Islander Sexualities_ seek abstracts for short critical
essays
and/or creative works to complete their collection (to be published by
AltaMira Press). The book will serve as an introductory textbook on API
sexualities for primary use in Asian American and gender studies
classes.
Contributors must therefore have a focus that discusses the body in
relation
to an American context (including Canada as well as Pacific and
Caribbean
islands that have been or are currently under the jurisdiction of the
U.S.
government). This context may be iconographic (i.e., identification with
American film stars) as well as literal (i.e., diasporic kinship
networks,
etc.). All disciplines are welcome. Proposal should focus on
articulations
of at least one of the following:

Asian populations in the Caribbean

Bisexuality

Pacific Islands (Guam, Hawaii, Samoa, etc.)

Transgender

Thai ethnicity

Medical discourse

Sexual trafficking

Abstracts must be received by September 30 and should be sent to Gina
Masequesmay (gina.masequesmay at csun.edu) and Sean Metzger
(seanmetzger at yahoo.com). First drafts of submissions (fifteen pages
incl.
Notes) within 3 months of the acceptance of abstracts.
